We were part of the ForYXE Carnival and we wanted to share some of the highlights of what happened!
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
John 13:34
On May 24th, Cornerstone was able to partner with 14 other churches to host a carnival in Kinsman Park. It was wonderful to work with so many other believers, all for one purpose: to love people from Saskatoon. I wanted to share some of the highlights from the weekend so that you can see how God is at work in our city.
Many people stopped by the “Info” booth, where we had information about upcoming events from different churches and they requested more details on what was happening. A few people asked about churches in their area and for recommendations on churches with good programming for their children. We were able to share some suggestions and encourage them to check out the churches nearby.
There were instances where we could stop and pray for people—some of whom had never prayed before but were open to being prayed with. Our volunteers also prayed for those who approached them and asked for prayer. It was amazing to see the hunger for prayer among these individuals. There were also instances where people didn’t want prayer, but at least they knew we were willing to pray for them, which was encouraging to us.
At the info booth, there were people who were new to Canada—many within the last year, and one just within the last few weeks. We were able to pray with them, let them know they are welcome to join us on Sunday (which they were very interested in), and encourage them further.
We also had the opportunity to answer questions about church. Someone asked if they needed to be baptized to attend a Baptist church, and it was so great to discuss that with them, assuring them that they don’t need to do anything to come to church—they are just welcome.
There are many more stories, but these are a few of our favorites. It was very encouraging to work together with other churches and to impact the lives of people here in Saskatoon.
